A Study on Environmental Safety for Hospitalization Patients


Abstract
A study on the environmental safety for hospitalized patients in an urban area was carried out during the month of March and April 1976. The purpose of the study was to provide one of the fundamental data was the environmental safety for hospitalized patient. The findings of this study is expected to be a valuable information to the comprehensive nursing care. The study sample consisted of 233 patients. The study sample was drawn from the total number of patients by using a random sampling method, data for the study was collected through 44 questionnaires on the sample selected. Chi-square tests were performed to confirm the significant differences by employing an alpha level of 0.5. The finding of study are follows: 1. The majority of respondents were found to be in 20?30 years old (60.3%) in the level of middle and high schooling (24.7%, 31.6%). 2. The majority of respondents were found to be long term hospitalization patients (20 days and over : 46.3%). The majority of respondents were first experienced hospitalization (62.7%) and revealed to be hospitalized at 3rd class ward(62.9%). 3. In each category, mean satisfaction score on the safety of hospital environment was higher as old age with lower level education. The mean satisfaction score was higher in rural group and at 3rd class ward. The mean satisfaction score was lower in experienced operation group.
